Competitive Advantages
Samsungs Key Advantages over our competition:
First to market with the highest density of NAND Flash in the world, using the most advanced semiconductor production processes. Currently offering 16Gb TSOP, with 32Gb coming soon.
Market Leadership - #1Supplier of Flash, DRAM, SRAM and MCP, allow for production flexibility
Dual- and multi-core CPUs for multi-tasking operations, 64-bit operating systems and compute-intensive applications such as virtualisation, 3D, gaming and photo/video editing are accelerating the need for higher-performance memory with reduced power consumption.
From notebooks to servers, as energy efficiency becomes a mandate, Samsung DDR3 provides designers the ideal green memory solution to build the latest computing platforms.
Samsung 2Gb DDR3 chips are todays highest-density production memory product and boast special low power technology, operating at 1.5V and 1.35V. Based on 50nm-class processes, the new 2Gb DDR3-based modules save over 40% of the power of 1Gb DDR3 modules. For the new generation of green servers, Samsung 2Gb DDR3 reduces electricity bills and cuts the total cost of ownership (TCO) by lowering system power consumption and decreasing the need for cooling, particularly in combination with Samsung SSD's.
Samsungs 2Gb DDR3 chips are available in registered DIMMs of up to 16GB for servers, 4GB unbuffered DIMMs for workstations and desktops, and 4GB SODIMMs for laptops. Particularly for Nehalem / Tylersburg-based systems, our 8GB and 16GB server modules allow for large memory capacity while preserving the maximum bus speed of 1333Mbps.
It's the ideal memory for the data center, which has a well-documented need for more performance with less energy consumption. Server electricity expenditures are increasing annually, with an average data center consuming the equivalent energy of 25,000 households.
DDR3 offers significant power savings compared to DDR2, cutting energy requirements by more than 60% in the case of the latest 50nm-class 2Gb DDR3 while delivering twice the performance.
For servers, desktops or notebooks, Samsung DDR3 delivers the unbeatable combination of maximum bandwidth and density at the lowest power consumption. In addition, all products come in lead-free, halogen-free packaging, thus contributing to a greener environment.
The evolution of DDR3 has resulted in a high-performance chip that contributes significantly to key markets like the graphics industry, where fast data transfers between frame buffers are required.
With a latency of approximately 13 nanoseconds, DDR3 is also an ideal memory solution for network applications where frequent random accesses occur.
